What is Americatel Prepagado?

Americatel Prepagado is a prepaid access-based international long distance service that works from any phone, even cell phones! It’s an alternative for people who can’t use postpaid services such as 1010-123 and Uniendo America because their phone numbers belong to companies with whom Americatel has no billing agreement (CLEC). Prepagado is a subscription service that is billed via credit/debit card or cash at one of our authorized retailers. Choose a recharge amount between $10 and $50, which can be used to make calls without connection fees, hidden charges or fixed monthly charges.

How is Americatel Prepagado different from prepaid telephone cards?

Americatel Prepagado is a convenient subscription service with excellent rates without expiration dates or hidden charges, which offers the advantage of recharging the account automatically or manually by calling Customer Service through our website or or by visiting one of our authorized retailers. Above all, Americatel Prepagado offers great rates and excellent communication quality. Prepaid Phone Cards are inconvenient. They have hidden charges such as maintenance and connection fees, plus you need to go out and buy them at stores. Some have unfavorable rounding schemes, billing you in 3 minute increments or more. In most cases they have fast expiration dates, poor call quality and no customer service. You will never be able to talk the advertised length of minutes on the card.

Do I need a PIN or password to use this service?

No, simply dial the access number and follow the prompts.

Does my balance have an expiration date?

No, as long as you keep your service activated, your balance will remain available until you want to use it again.

Can I add more registered phones to my account?

Yes you can register up to 4 numbers to your account when you subscribe through the website or by calling our customer service line at 1-877-404-0123.

Can I add more registered landlines?

Yes You can assign up to 4 numbers into your account, both landlines or cellular phones will work with the service.

What credit and debit cards do you accept?

VISA and MasterCard.

Can I pay with an ATM card (debit)?

Yes, provided it is a card with the Visa and MasterCard logo on the front.

When will I see the charges on my credit / debit card?

The charges take effect immediately, but you can see the charges reflected in your card within 48 hours (2 days), depending on your bank.

Can I pay cash?

Yes, you can charge your account by paying cash at any of our authorized retailers (find one here).

Can I pay by personal check or money order?

At this time we do not accept checks or money orders.

How long does it take for the service to be activated?

Once you subscribe to Americatel Prepagado, the service will be activated in about 30 minutes or less.

How I can recharge my account?

Recharges can be made in several ways:

With credit / debit cards:
Sign up for Auto Recharge. Call our customer service line at 1-877-404-0123 and sign up for Auto Recharge. When your balance runs out your account will be replenished automatically at an amount you choose.

By phone:
Call the customer service number 1-877-404-0123 from 9:00 am to 12:00 am ET, 7 days a week.

Log into MyAccount (here) and recharge your account.

With cash:
Visit any of our authorized shops (find one here).

What is Auto Recharge?

Auto Recharge is an easy and convenient way to automatically recharge your account. Every time your account reaches predefined level, the system automatically recharges your account with an amount you specific at the time of signup. With Auto Recharge you will always have funds available in your Americatel Prepagado account.

How long does recharging the service take?

When you contact our customer service number (1-877-404-0123) or log into your account online to recharge your account, the balance will be available immediately.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount of recharges?

You can recharge as many times as necessary, with a limit of $ 250 in a 24 hour period.

What happens when I run out of balance in the middle of a call?

Every time your account balance reaches zero, you will be transferred to a customer service agent. If you have opted for the Automatic Recharge option, the account will automatically recharge within (2) minutes.

What happens to my balance if the service is canceled?

If you cancel the service will lose any remaining balance in your account. We recommend using your entire balance before canceling your service.

If I am a customer with local telephone company (LEC), I can have this service?

Yes, this is a great service for those who want to take control of monthly long distance spending.

Does this product receive the same level of customer service as other Americatel Products?

Of course. That is another benefit of this product… Americatel’s excellent customer care and support.

How I can see the details of my calls and recharges?

All the details can be viewed online by logging into your account (here) or by contacting our Customer Service department at 1-877-404-0123.

How do I cancel my service?

Call our customer service toll free at 1-877-404-0123 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm ET, 7 days a week.

Will there be any additional charges to my credit or debit card for this service?

We only charge your credit or debit card for the recharge amount and USF.

How secure is my personal information, including credit and debit card info?

Americatel uses advanced technology to protect your privacy. Transactions and validations are done through an encrypted PCI-compliant system to protect your information. In addition our database has the same protection that most banks use. What taxes or fees will I be charged for using the Americatel Prepagado service? USF Fee: A government-mandated (FCC) fee for international long distance and interstate calls that goes to a fund that is used to provide telephone services to every person in America who cannot have telephone service (15.7%). This charge is applied to the amount of each call automatically. Additionally state and federal taxes apply.
